The mandate of the Kahnawà:ke Governance Project is to facilitate a collaborative community process for the restoration of traditional government in Kahnawà:ke.
The Project has no affiliation or relationship to any Canadian government organization or process. It involves and is accountable only to the people of Kahnawà:ke.
Our work is being done with respect for the mandate to restore traditional government given by the people in 1979 and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke’s June 17th, 2024 Declaration on Restoring Traditional Government and the Authority of the Rotinonhshón:ni Confederacy:
